Positively Fit

It seems that not enough of you are getting the point to this whole working out thing. Perfection is a commercial plot which is utilized to make you feel inadequate so that you will feel forced to purchase adequacy. Fitness is not about outfits or attracting whom ever you wish to attract. It's not about fitting into that wedding dress in four weeks or those size 34 pants that you wore when you were in high school. It is and should always be about the quality of your life. I'm sorry to tell you this but you can't purchase quality of life. You may be able to rent it for awhile, but why settle for a temporary situation when you can have that lasting fulfillment that you crave. There are no short cuts. You will have to work for it. I guarantee you this - the conquest is worth it.

The Truth

Free radicals are highly reactive molecules which target your tissues' protein bonds, the DNA in your cells' nuclei, and the important polyunsaturated fatty acids within your cells' membranes. Nutrition

Recipe

Spinach Salad with Diced Chicken Breast 

1 - Large chicken breast ( boneless and skinless )

1 - 10 oz. bag of fresh spinach

1 - Cucumber/ 1 - Avocado/ 2 - Tomatoes

1 - 1oz pinch of mixed grated cheese ( optional )

Broil the seasoned chicken breast for 8 to 10 minutes - make sure the chicken is completely thawed. If possible marinade for 24 hours. After the chicken is cooked dice then place in a small bowl.

Peel and slice cucumber into medallions then place in small bowl.

Dice and rinse tomatoes then place in a small bowl.

Peel and dice avocado then place in a small bowl.

Remove spinach from bag and wash thoroughly in cold water then place in large bowl.

Add portions from each ingredient to make one serving for yourself or multiple servings. Add cheese or shaved carrot for variety. Add dressing of choice, but watch those saturated fats.

Store the ingredients in their individual bowls and place in the refrigerator. 


Vegetable

Spinach ( Spinacia oleracia )
Spinach is the most widely used dark leafy green in this country, popular for cooking and raw salads. Spinach is often the first veggie directly seeded into the garden in early spring as it prefers and thrives in the cool, moist soil. Spinach is a nutritious green despite it's 80-90% water content. It is high in chlorophyll, vitamins A and C, all best retained by no or minimal cooking. 

Cooking tips

1. Spinach cooks quickly. Be careful not to overcook by watching for bright green color. 
2. Steam 2lbs. of fresh spinach for 8-10 min., 1lb. for 5 min. 
3. Rinse spinach leaves thoroughly in a cool water bath as garden soil and grit tends to accumulate on the underside of the leaves. Pat dry with a towel or spin dry.
